Maison Eric Kayser, the boulangerie/cafe from Paris, opened its second Hong Kong location on May 8. The address, 60 Ventris Road, Happy Valley, is in a residential area.

Maison Eric Kayser is a growing global chain that includes 13 bakeries in Japan. The first Hong Kong location, which also has a restaurant, opened in Harbour City last December. The second store is designed for casual dining. Like the first location, the second one serves bread and other food made with yeast and other natural ingredients.

The new Maison Eric Kayser has 20 tables in an at-home atmosphere. In addition to the restaurant area with its standard baguettes and croissants, terrace seating will become available in the near-future.

The chain expects demand among French residents and commuters since the area is home to many Western residents and a French international school. Maison Eric Kayser begins selling home-made chocolate croissants, brioches and other freshly baked bread at 7:45 a.m., along with a traditional French morning menu for HK$88. There is also an afternoon set (HK$58) and a weekend brunch menu (HK$168).

Business hours are from 7:45 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.
